This unit is designed to provide students with an understanding of the biblical basis and the historical and modern formulations of the person and work of Jesus Christ, and to explore these in the light of contemporary Christian life and thought.

Outcomes

1. Appraise the conclusions of the quests for the historical Jesus;
2. Examine the development of early Christology through to the Chalcedonian definition;
3. Assess the contributions to Christology of key contemporary theologians;
4. Analyse the primary theories and metaphors of atonement.
