Korean Diaspora Studies Centre

The Korean Diaspora Studies Centre (KDSC) encourages a vibrant and active research culture within the Korean department. 

In addition to the research publications that the AC Korean faculty produce, KDSC also produces the widely acclaimed Text and Context academic journal which, for many years, has been one of the most significant Korean academic publications in Australia.

한인 디아스포라 연구 센터 (KDSC)는 한국학부 내에서 활기차고 활발한 연구 문화를 장려합니다.
KDSC는 AC 한국학부 교수진이 개인적으로 발표한 연구 간행물 외에도, 호주에서 가장 중요한 한국 학술 간행물 중 하나로 수년 동안 알려진 “신학과 상황” 학술 저널을 제작합니다.

Brief History

The Korean department at Alphacrucis (AC) University College, was founded in 1996 by Dr David Kwon. Together with his wife, Hanna, they pioneered and pastored Korean-speaking churches across Asia and Australia. After 22 years of outstanding service to AC as Dean of the Korean Department, Dr David Kwon was succeeded in 2018 by Dr Oh-Young Kwon. 

The Korean language program has grown to include Certificate IV up to Doctorate level. Contributing to the broader Korean diaspora community, the Korean AC faculty hosts pastors' training seminars, which bring together thousands of Korean pastors from across Australia. 

Additionally, the Korean Diaspora Studies Centre regularly hosts forums and research colloquiums to support a lively research culture.

약력

알파크루시스 대학(AC)의 한국학부는 1996년 권다윗 박사 (David Kwon)에 의해 설립되었다. 권 박사는 권한나 (Hanna Kwon) 사모와 함께 아시아와 호주에서 한국 교회를 개척했다. 권다윗 박사의 알파크루시스 대학에서 22년 동안의 탁월한 섬김 후, 2018년에 권오영 (Oh-Young Kwon) 박사가 Dean으로 부임했다.

한국학부는 성장을 거듭하면서 준학사부터 박사과정까지 개설하고 있으며, 더욱 넓은 한인 디아스포라 공동체에 기여하기 위해 AC 한국학부는 다양한 목회자 훈련 세미나를 개최하면서 호주 전역에 걸쳐 수천 명의 목회자들을 섬기고 있다.

한인 디아스포라 연구 센터는 정기적으로 학술 포럼과 리서치 세미나를 개최함으로 활발한 학문적 리서치 문화를 만들어가고 있다.
