This subject explores change management of effective Christian educational leadership. Students assess school culture’s impact on vision maintenance and change and identifying key influencers. Students will develop proposals and know key structure to implement plans for significant organisational change, by ensuring there is an alignment with the school’s vision.

Outcomes

  1. Critically engage with literature regarding effective change management and critical components of successful Christian educational leadership;
  2. Evaluate the culture of a school in relation to maintenance of vision, need for change and the identification of ‘gatekeepers’;
  3. Develop a detailed proposal for a significant change within an education organisation, outlining leadership requirements and preparation with a particular focus on the impact of change for key stakeholders;
  4. Formulate a detailed implementation plan for the above proposed change, including how other leaders within the organisation contribute to the process of change and how the change promotes greater faithfulness to the implementation of the school’s vision and mission.

  3. Forces and people that promote or resist change
  4. Why ‘good’ innovations fail – appreciating processes of change and resistance
  5. Leading the shaping of culture for vision congruent change and overcoming obstacles to lasting change
  6. Understanding the various stakeholders of a school community and the impact of changes upon them
  7. Initiating and planning the implementation of an innovation that demonstrates effective change management, supports the biblical vision of the school and engages the whole school community
  8. Incorporating effective monitoring and evaluative mechanisms for school innovations
