Since 1948, thousands of graduates from Alphacrucis University College (previously known as Commonwealth Bible College and Southern Cross College) have been making a difference in the lives of the people around them, and significantly impacting their world for good. To be an Alphacrucis Alumnus is to be part of a group of leaders around the world who are transforming nations and neighbourhoods!
We want to invite you to join Alphacrucis Alumni Connect, our exclusive AC Alumni community. Here, we help AC Alumni and friends stay in touch or reconnect through our quarterly email newsletters, social media platforms and events. We aim to provide; opportunities for you to catch up with former classmates, lecturers or colleagues across the AC community, inspire and encourage you by sharing Alumni Insight Stories, which celebrate the success of AC Alumni doing great things in their field, and enable you to continue learning, with free access to our physical library collections, and with invitations to our online webinars and special masterclasses.
Glyn and Sophia have a passion for seeing leaders and churches thrive and make significant impacts in their communities. They planted and pastor a large multi-site church based in Manchester, UK – !Audacious Church. Glyn leads the Assemblies of God Great Britain and co-chairs Empowered21 for Western Europe. Sophia’s powerful prophetic ministry and leadership is evident in her speaking, publications, and media.
Glyn and Sophia’s leadership journey began with a call from God in Glyn’s childhood, and through Sophia’s radical salvation in her teens. They met at Southern Cross College (now Alphacrucis), during which Glyn recounts how God gave him an audacious vision in 1995 that he would return to the UK and plant a church. They graduated, married, and embarked on their new leadership journey.
Glyn and Sophia pioneered a youth and young adults ministry in Sheffield, UK, but soon they felt to start again. They planted !Audacious Church in Manchester in 2007, which has grown to a multisite, multi-generational church across UK and Europe. Their community outreach supports many projects and feeds thousands of people throughout Manchester and the Midlands. Together, Glyn and Sophia impact Christian leaders throughout Europe, overseeing more than 600 churches with a church planting strategy to launch 400 new churches over the next five years.
In the midst of their busyness, Glyn returned to study at Alphacrucis, last year completing his Master of Leadership. This commitment to strengthen and broaden their leadership is a mark of the love Glyn and Sophia have for God, and for seeing people and communities transformed. Glyn and Sophia Barrett are worthy recipients of Alphacrucis’ Distinguished Alumni Award for 2023.
