2024 Graduation Student Stories

Graduating from a course at Alphacrucis University College is not just about earning a degree—it’s about transforming your life, deepening your faith, and preparing for the next step in your calling. The journey to the finish line is filled with challenges, growth, and ultimately, the joy of accomplishment. Here’s what some of our 2024 graduates had to say about their experience at Alphacrucis.

Equipped for Ministry and Beyond

For Celeste Katherveloo, who completed a Master of Arts specialising in Christian Studies, Alphacrucis was instrumental in preparing her for her work in Domestic Violence and at church.

“I’ve learnt about a lot about God – who He is and His love for humanity. I now better understand my purpose in Him and how we fit in the big picture. One key thing I will always remember is that it’s not just the jobs we do, it’s how we live our life. Besides serving at church, I also work in the courts on cases related to family violence.  Sharing God’s love is so needed in that area, and living the gospel is about loving people where they are, and through that changing their lives for the better. ”

Flexibility and Relationship

Karen Barnette, a Master of Counselling graduate, appreciated the flexibility that Alphacrucis offered.

“The hybrid (model), being able to be flexible in study, really fitted our world,” she says. The knowledge she gained has allowed her to elevate pastoral care in her church, adding a professional dimension that helps manage more complex pastoral cases. “I would say AC’s very relational. The God aspect means faculty and staff could connect with us students on a spiritual level, not just on an academic level.”

Dynamic Learning and Personal Growth

Andrew Eisenhower, a Master of Teaching (Primary) graduate, highlighted the diverse and practical nature of his learning experience.

“The experience of Alphacrucis, just like the experience of being in a school, no lecture or subject or approach was identical… I really liked that because that’s real life,”

he shared. Andrew’s journey at Alphacrucis helped him develop the skills needed to thrive in his role teaching at a Christian school, where he enjoys building relationships with students and parents.

Learning to Look Deeper

Paul and Laureen Newsham, who completed their Master of Leadership degrees, found their studies to be both challenging and enriching. Paul shared how the course helped him develop critical thinking:

“After I did a number of subjects in college, I began to see that there’s always a wider scope, which you need to look at.”

Laureen, who ventured into psychology as part of her studies, emphasised the importance of emotional intelligence in leadership:

“Understanding the process of how the mind works, and then the emotional response of that… I really enjoyed that.”

Finding your Calling

Rachel Brinks graduated from the Bachelor of Applied Social Science and has already landed a job as a senior case manager overseeing 9 foster children,

“I’ve always loved working with young people and children. And towards the end of my degree, as I was looking to get some experience in that field, I saw a position for administrative support for the case managers advertised at Anglicare and got it.

When I finished my degree, I was offered a case manager position at Anglicare and said yes straightaway. It’s been so fulfilling to be able to make an impact in the lives of vulnerable children and young people.”

A Significant Part of your Journey

For these graduates, completing their studies at Alphacrucis University College was more than just academic achievement—it was a journey of personal and spiritual growth, helping them discover that they are “God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for (them) to do.”  Join us and discover what God has planned for you!
