Details for EXP550 Professional Placement – Chaplaincy

This subject provides an intensive learning experience in practical counselling. You will learn from experience by working with counsellees in a clinical setting, supplemented by individual and group supervision, and the opportunity to reflect on your cases in other subjects in the course. You will also gain a broader understanding of presenting problems, diagnosis, assessment and management through case conferences involving an approved mix of peer review, professional development and supervisors.

Outcomes

  1. Identify and apply key competencies and tasks required for professional practice in chaplaincy contexts  
  2. Critically evaluate the application of these competencies to real-life contexts and workplace situations; 
  3. Critique professional responsibilities and ethical practice as experienced during the professional placement; 
  4. Discuss personal and professional development in professional practice through supervision and reflective practice.

  1. Supervised practical experience which builds on the experiences obtained in EXP450 Practicum A 
  2. Experience of the working practices of the placement context and operating within its administrative framework
  3. Opportunity to explore, discuss and share their personal growth in relationship to placement  
  4. Participating in a professional supervised relationship
