Outcomes

1. Identify and discuss the various statutory and regulatory bodies, requirements and conceptual frameworks that inform and influence curriculum development and implementation in Australia.
2. Develop a program of learning that integrates a biblical perspective, demonstrates effective learning, teaching, and assessment strategies, and uses appropriate resources.
3. Discuss and illustrate the process and principles of effective program design and lesson planning including differentiation of learning and assessment.
4. Describe the types of assessment, assessment principles and assessment methods and discuss the role and application of these in the teaching and learning process.
5. Explain the role of assessment, feedback and reporting in the student learning process and program improvement.

Subject Content

• Knowledge of the NESA (and other relevant) and ACARA syllabuses, Australian Professional Teaching Standards (APTS) syllabus design, scope and sequence, lesson plans, units of work, origins of curriculum, curriculum trends, components of curriculum, social engineering, hidden curriculum, ideologies and beliefs about education, negotiating the curriculum, curriculum outcomes, curriculum policy documents and frameworks, pedagogical orientations.
